Scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue' (Pincushion Flower) is a compact, clump-forming perennial that forms a short mound of ferny foliage. It has more blooms each season than other Pincushion Flowers. It rewards gardeners with a profusion of lavender-blue, pincushion-shaped blooms, 2 in. across (5 cm) on top of wiry stems that hover over the foliage pile of lobed, gray-green leaves, blooming for months from late spring until frost. This striking beauty is trouble-free, simple to grow, and perfect for massing or grouping in borders and rock gardens. This attractive perennial is ideal for edging borders and walks because of the finely split leaves that stays low and compact.
