Growing up, travel wasn't a luxury for my parents and me, so as an adult and having my own family it became crucial to make travel a part of our lifestyle. As a nurse with over 22 years of experience, I advocate for holistic living and believe travel can contribute to mental rest, clarity, peace, physical relaxation and exercise, which leads to stress reduction and longevity.

Afro-Belizean culture, deeply rooted in the Garifuna heritage, is a vibrant and integral part of Belize's identity. The Garifuna people, descendants of West African, Arawak, and Carib ancestry, arrived in Belize in the 19th century after being exiled from St. Vincent by the British. Today, their rich traditions thrive in coastal communities such as Dangriga, Hopkins, and Punta Gorda. Known for their drumming, dance, and storytelling, the Garifuna culture is a UNESCO-recognized masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage. Their cuisine, featuring dishes like hudut (a coconut fish stew with mashed plantains), reflects their deep connection to the land and sea. The Garifuna language, a unique blend of Arawakan, Carib, and European influences, continues to be a pillar of their identity. Through music, spirituality, and community celebrations like Garifuna Settlement Day, the Garifuna people preserve their rich legacy while contributing to Belize's diverse cultural landscape.

As you arrive in Belize you will be greeted by our team who will be waiting for you at the International Airport. Then we make our way down south on the Hummingbird Highway and we will have several opportunities to stop and take pictures experiencing what makes Belize so special. Once we arrive in Hopkins, get checked into your beachfront hotel The Lodge at Jaguar Reef and enjoy the sunset poolside sipping on a cocktail.

Today you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the beauti- ful beach resort. Walk the white sandy beach and cool off in the clear waters. Later on in the afternoon explore the city of Hopkins on foot and say hi to the locals. Enjoy the great amenities of your Hotel into the evening hours, sip on your favorite cocktails and enjoy the ocean waves crashing ever so gently throughout the night.

Located along the Caribbean coast at the mouth of the North Stann Creek River, Dangriga is the largest settlement in southern Belize and a vibrant hub of Afro-Belizean heritage. Here, you'll immerse yourself in the rhythms of traditional Garifuna drum- ming, savor a delicious local lunch, and explore the town's rich history at the Garifuna Museum. To truly connect with this dynamic culture, enjoy a hands-on experience, where you'll learn the art of drumming, dancing, or even preparing authentic Garifuna cuisine. I'd give 4 1/2 if there was one. The shelves thwmself are nice I just don't like the visible little black set screws. The shelves themself look great and are not wobbly at all if you install correctly. I purposely installed the bracket upside down because of the little black setting screws; I didnt want them showing because the shelves are above eye level and the screws are black and I didn't want them showing. But that made the shelf lean amd wobbly so I turned them back over the way they are supposed to be and that made them level and sturdy. I guess I'll paint the little screws.
